The new definition of a clock

c778_ixp3_internet_messaging_clock2What kind of clock is acceptable in todays fast paced Internet Age? Apparently in addition to telling time, the clock must connect with TwitterRSS feed and Email such as the iXP3 Internet Message Clock.

Just about everything is internet enabled now; our phones, our gaming consoles and now our clocks. This clock, for example, is incredibly cool in its own right - the iXP3 Internet Message Clock from Fascinations takes clocks to a whole new level.  Once the unit is connected to the Internet, Red LEDs on a quickly swinging arm create the illusion of text floating in mid-air displaying news, sports scores, stock quotes, SMS text messages and entertainment updates via RSS and Twitter.  Up to 50 messages can be stored to read back at a later date and, if the recipient happens to be in the land of nod when a message comes through, it will be displayed for them to wake up to. You can also send messages directly to the clock through email or through the myixp3.com website. When not in message mode, the clock performs the humble tasks of displaying the date, time and temperature.

The iXP3 is a new form of communications that uses ‘persistence of vision’ technology to display personal messages sent to anyplace in the world that has an internet connection. The clock features a port at the back that allows you to connect it to a router. The port is a standard RJ45 socket that allows Ethernet to be run directly from the router to the clock, thus letting the user connect it to the Internet.

The clock is proven convenience for environments, such as the office or when (you’re “supposed” to be) studying, where you want to follow a news story or a sporting event but can’t take the time to surf the web or frequently check for cell phone messages. Expecting a thumping bill at the end of the month? Fear not, this tech masterpiece has no service or subscription fee!
The iXP3 Internet Messaging Clock is available at Innovatoys and Think Geek for US$99.99 (£65).
